Epic Mountain Bike Party: Vallarta Fireride Festival
If you’re planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta at the end of November, you’ll have the chance to attend the Vallarta Fireride Festival, a unique festival that brings together some of the most impressive Mountain Bike (MTB) athletes in the world. This international cycling event will take place on November 25th & 26th, 2022 and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
The festival’s warm-up party will take place on Thursday, November 24th at Bar YamBak on Calle Abasolo 169 in Puerto Vallarta from 10:00 pm until midnight. You must be 18 years or older to attend. Those who look younger than 18, may be asked to show ID.
Several of the world’s top MTB Athletes will be heading to Puerto Vallarta for this event and you may have the chance to spot them at the party. Top names invited to this year’s festival include: Will White, Nicholi Rogatin, Reed Boggs, and Johny Salido.
Dual Slalom Racing
On Friday, November 25th, spectators will have the opportunity to watch the MTB athletes compete in dual slalom racing from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The trails are public, so you can also arrive before 5:00 pm if you want to watch the pro-athletes practice.
Dual slalom MTB racing is based on the same principle as slalom racing in alpine skiing. During the event, two mountain bikers compete in a timed test on two parallel downhill tracks. The tracks have obstacles and jumps which make the course more challenging. Each round consists of two races and the two competitors change tracks much like in a tennis match to ensure that there is no unfair advantage. The MTB athlete who gets the best time in the two races, qualifies for the next round. Click here to get a preview of what you can expect at this year’s festival.
There will be food and beverages available to purchase during the event followed by live DJ music.
High Air Tricks
The festival continues on Saturday, November 26th, from 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm. This is going to be an exciting day where you can see the riders battle it out as they push their limits. You can expect to see some daredevil tricks where the athletes do high jumps in the air while turning their bikes sideways or upside down and come down for a smooth landing. Throughout the day they will compete to see who is number one in high jump, best trick, slopestyle, and more. Make sure you stay for the whip-off battle.
In the evening, there will be live DJ music, floodlit jumps, and fireworks. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
If you love extreme sports and great vibes, you won’t want to miss out on this day.
How to Get There
The Fireride Festival takes place in Ixtapa on A Ixtapa street. The event features dirt tracks and wide open spaces so it’s not close to the city center, but it will be well worth the trek. The location is approximately a 20-minute drive from Villa del Palmar Puerto Vallarta and a 26-minute drive from Villa del Palmar Flamingos. You can view the location here. Taxis will easily take you there and you can ask staff at the resort to call a taxi for you. It may be difficult to get a taxi back to the resort from the event location, so make sure you save the number of a taxi service so that you can call one to take you back to the resort. Alternatively, you can download the inDriver app on your smartphone and organize a taxi that way. In Puerto Vallarta, inDriver is more widely used than Uber. At times, if you try to use the Uber app it says,´No Cars Available’, so inDriver is another great resource for a ride.
Entry to this event is free and you can get your tickets here.

We recommend bringing cash in the form of pesos to this event since not all vendors will have the ability to take card or other forms of money like the US dollar.
The slogan for this year’s festival is: Bikes, Tacos, and Good Times. If you are a bike-minded person and want to see a spectacular show, this event promises to be epic!
