Danzante Island Tour at the Islands of Loreto

Visiting the beautiful Islands of Loreto is a relaxing vacation experience that is sure to put you in touch with nature. During my visit to the Islands of Loreto this past month, I embarked on the Danzante Island Tour and saw an abundance of wildlife while reconnecting with my inner self due to the serene ambience of the tour.

The tour met in the lobby of the resort at 9 am. From the lobby, we followed the leader of the Danzante Activities Department out to the beach in front of the resort. Upon reaching the sand, we were given an overview of the tour and what to expect. We then waded through the crystal clear waters of Puerto Escondido in front of the resort out to the Apex vessel, which was our transportation to Danzante Island. I was amazed at how shallow the water was. We walked out to the Appex vessel with the deepest water being at knee level, giving the illusion that all of us were walking on water from afar.

On our way out to the island, Ramses, our knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide showcased in the above photo, pointed out key sights and explained the history behind everything we saw. Since I took this tour in March, which is the end of whale watching season, I was able to see many whales and dolphins on our way out to the island. Our group collaboratively searched for animals and Ramses would drive the boat towards wherever everyone on the boat agreed to go so that we could get the most out of this experience.

When we reached Danzante Island, all of us were given wet suits and snorkeling gear. Once we were suited up, we jumped into the water around Danzante Island. The water was so clear that I could see everything. While I was snorkeling, I saw a diverse range of fish and a sea lion swam right under me. It was phenomenal and the best snorkeling experience I have ever had.

The water in front of Danzante Island, our snorkeling spot, was so clear that you could see everything.

After snorkeling, we were given burritos, apples, and beverages (water, soda, and beer) as we made our way back to the resort. Ramses continued to tour us around the islands, pointing out arch formations, blue footed boobies (birds), and surrounding wild life.

Simply put, this was an amazing experience all around. I cannot wait to return to the Islands of Loreto and continue to explore all the beauty that this preserved area has to offer.
